Accepting New Clients

Counseling is the opportunity to communicate with a person trained and experienced in helping you link to the places where your questions are.

As a licensed counselor, I am trained to tune in to the questions you bring, verbal and beyond. We will explore your questions and the systems you live in and help you to re-write the answers you receive to your questions in caring, effective ways.

I have more than twenty years in a variety of counseling roles, and I am experienced in counseling children 5 and up, pre teens, teens, parents, families, and adults.

My philosophy of counseling is that people are born asking questions. We meet the world as babies, expressing how we feel and think in the ways that we are then able to express.  When asking for help getting our needs met from the people around us, we hope that they can respond effectively, with care and consistency.

If they do, we learn these methods and strategies. If not, we incorporate the methods and messages then presented to us. As we age and mature, we learn to respond to both our own needs and the needs of others with the information we learned when making our needs known. And, at various stages in our lives', how we expressed our needs, or how we asked (or stopped asking) for help, changed.

There may also have been times in our lives, and often for a variety of different reasons, that we received ineffective, or, even harmful, responses when we asked for help meeting our needs.  When we can see now that we received these kinds of responses, we can ask ourselves questions to re-write what we learned. This, in turn, allows us to choose how we respond to our needs, and others, with greater effectiveness and with more options to choose from. This is the therapeutic process. There are as many ways to do this as there are people. Whatever speaks to your inner language of growth can define how you approach therapy.
